I got idea for uplink MP:

1. Only C++ coding, nojava no other programming
2. two programs - client uplink.exe and server.exe
3. player will have client version and they will connect to server.exe server version
4. Server will have capacity some number of agents and server can be shutdown (and therefore delete all agents all statistic and restarted as new game) woth revelation virs spread - that player who did that will be as first on server webpage.
5. If agent get caught in server his gateway will be seized but agent can start again with new gateway
6. gateway will have umeric ip adress not only 127.0.0.1
7. If a player wants to join a game he joins it like in uplink but he must provide username and password and server ip
8. Registering will be like in uplink but you must fill server ip
Any comments? :wink:

1. no, no c++, because it sucks and it isnt as portable as java(ok, it isnt as fast as good c++ code, but hey its better then VisualBasic)
2. no exe, sorry(i am running OSX and linux)

4. hmm... maybe, but i think it would be better, not to implement this, instead you can use server side scripts to achiev this.(like python, groovy or ruby as server side scripting language)

If not in c++ you muist amke all game renew you cann use old scripts.
for server and client EXE is not important: it can be use in linux the same as in windows

Main thinh from that post wos not to develop other program but modifi uplink to connect to server .

And i have complete desing and concept how Uplink in multyplayer can be - sadly i cannot programm in c++ (only pascal, delphi php etc..) and dont have source code.
IV could make new multyplayer uplink as their new game - it would be great. Also making multplayer version is bit tricky becouse you need hing amount of money to buy game server etc...
If IV wants i can give them concept art. :D

aehm.. i also dont have the sourcecode of uplink.
I started already writeing this from scratch.

yeah, java is ok... the other ones are for later, with ingame scripting language and world scripts.
and ideas are also welcome, too.
Register on the homepage and put them in the ideas section of the forum. I also have great ideas, but i always forget them :( .
