Hmm... bugging them I could forgive, but buggering? Isn't that a bit drastic? :P

Proxor: good luck with your game. A thought on your idea for the password breaking, though - rather than having higher versions require less work, wouldn't it make more sense to make higher versions harder to use, but have a potential, if used correctly, to crack the password more efficiently? That way, the game would get harder as you progressed through it, rather than easier.

You could need to get better versions as you got further on to combat the companies' better tracing capabilities. These higher versions would let you in fast enough, but you'd need to be better at the game to use them, and so the difficulty would increase.

If successive versions got easier to use, then when (if?) companies got better at tracing you, you would find it was just as easy - if not easier - to hack them.

Just an idea. Good luck again. :)

It would be completely un-introversion to work with a major manufacturer, and IV are not just about making money. Also, they are too busy with other things to be continually making mods for Uplink.

Why dont you create a Chinese mod yourself? Just ask IV for permission first. If you get it, then buy the DevCD

I suppose you could classify Onlink as Uplink 2... depends how you look at it.

Im not sure if this has already been posted but ill ask anyway I did use the search but didnt find a topic related to my question.

Will the source code for uplink ever be open maybe then users can just mod it to there heart is happy. Though I VERY much doubt this will ever happen seeing as its a game you must pay for but its still worth asking.

 Dont freak out on me because I didnt want to read 9,000,000 posts looking for this question. O.^

Ok, so right now, it's really clearly that IV isn't going to make a sequel of one of the best games ever. And I really mean it. Its original game was really a 'Never seen before', and I agreee, that a sequel would just destroy the flair of this game. I hate commercial mainstream, so I'm kind of glad, that they don't make any sequel.
But in controverse of that, an Online Version of Uplink is NOT a sequel.
You want reasons? Well here they are:
1. An Online Version would just get the already great communitya more great.
2. I always dreamed of how it liked to be an hacker, and IV nearly answered all my dreams & questions, but an Online Version, not a sequel, would make it really perfect. I realize, that there won't be any next part of this game, but i will not accept it.
It's a game with a perfect idea to make it online, so why leave it alone?
And as rare I write in this forum, as rare there are reasons, to not make an Online Version.

So now getting to they commercial thang. I hate comercial mainstream, exactly as you have to pay a monthyl fee for e.g. City oh Heroes. But similar games, like Guild Wars, don't have to use this monthly payment.

I would be really glad, if i could still my hunger to a new experience, as well, i hope to speak out of many thougts, minds and mouths.
And i really hope, there will be someone important to change this statement.
Greatings from the now so lost Germany,
So long,
