Yet another Uplink 2 idea thread. Although I'm sure there never will be an Uplink 2, perhaps they might decide to one day and there will be plenty of ideas for them to think about. It might also help mod creators know what people like.
Story:
5 years after Revelation nearly destroys the Internet. As a result of such a large scale computer security crisis, the industries and governments of the world decided to temporarily shut down all ISPs across the globe in an attempt to set up new methods of security. A new faction rises in governments in several countries during this shut down, who believe that the Internet is a free area, not to be controlled, manipulated or shut down at the will of any one person. They see it as an extension of the human mind, a place where information, malicious or not, should run free as an uninhibited environment for intellectual growth and thought. These Freeminds, as they eventually name themselves, slowly gain influence in both the real world, and the newly revived Internet. Uplink, as is it's usual policy, takes no sides in the disagreements between corporations, the government, the Freeminds etc. Your character enters the story by joining Uplink, just before the Freeminds finally decide to start a full-scale digital war against all that try to control the Internet. Within a few weeks, several critical government and commercial systems have been comprimised, destroyed and otherwise attacked. Assist the Freeminds in the liberation of the Internet, work as a government agent to contain the Freeminds before they destroy what they try to protect, or play both sides to your best interests to take them for all they've got.
Basicly, just a storyline, and just a humble suggestion.
