hi,
I´m the new guy over here..
So this is what´s throbbing inside my head (feel free to ignore it):
Ever since I´ve heard of Darwinia and saw the first three screenshots (I guess at about this time yesterday) something kept going round in my mind. Until now I could not quite figure it out but after combining my stored data about uplink and the impressive graphics of Darwinia (that´s a compliment over here) it just hit me:
There used to be that olde Steve Jackson Gameserver in uplink and someone in this forum actually drew the connection to cyberpunkRPG already. This gave wings to my imagination and produced the idea that darwinia might actually be a good simulation of the cyberpunk idea of a three-dimensional matrix, manipulated by netrunners (read:hackers) combining their machines with their brains they actually hardwire with their computers to achive processing-speed and manipulation others can only dream of.
If you can still incorporate a quasi-hacking in Darwinia, here is one that would jump for it. Maybe it could eaven be possible to write missions according to profiles, such as:
- intrude into a server, take control of security cameras, open doors for a (virtual) team, keep the alarm supressed for a determined measure of time(until they get out) and cover their/your traces
- hack civil service facilities, maybe causing traffic-jams or other inconviniences to block chasing police
and such (mail me, my brain is still throbbing, but I do not want to spam the forum)
Anyway, this might better be suited for uplink, but still the idea of Darwinia functioning as hacking in a three dimensional, computergenerated artificial enviroment might not only solve my(and many other gm´s) problems including a decker in shadowrun, but actually be lots of fun to play.
PS:I d o now, that this is an Uplink-related forum, but still I thought that some people might be interested in my ideas and I did not find a Darwinia forum, so far.
