Well there isnt much that i can complain about the complete game of uplink. Its a great game, smooth, sexy...yet simple. But in addition, there could always be a few more things added to it:
Choice to operating systems. (different selections of everyone's unique specialness)
Local Command Prompt
Automatic Bypass's/Disablers. (if enabled)
Local Lan/Servers to buy.
Aggressive hackers on the game. (its always fun to have some competition with other hackers that try to get into your systems, gives you something to do)
Programs that you can actually use from servers which you've gained access to.
If connected to the internet, easier IM service in Uplink. (so your Alt + tab keys dont fall off quite yet..)
Multiple gateways to login to.
E-mail services (so you can actually check your 'real' mail and your uplink gamming mail. and a choice between services)
Little more realism. (theres many ways to call bounce, why not have them?)
Realtime BBS chat (if connected to the internet you can have other people ask you what to do, or you can ask them. That is if one is to lazy)
Some more command prompt utilities. (tracert [traceroute], ping, ftp, whatever, also commands like: copy, delete, rename, reboot, shutdown, login, logout, and what not)
Gfx-everyone could use some more gfx.
Local uplink Solitare!!
Local uplink Tetris!
The two above arent really needed..but i just thought i should say it. lol
Possibly if wanted a online uplink service. (so other uplink hackers can do ... whatever they wish)
Actual websites and not all just servers.
Trojans to e-mail - also a stronger firewall. Because usually when one has a firewall no one can connect through any port.
More viruses.
Scripting programs (to make different programs, viruses, trojans, or just to make life a bit more fun)
Port scanners. (little more realism)
Choice of music playing.
Telephone calls that consume more words than a few "hello"'s or "is anyone there?".
Harder hacks like:
backup to log files - or harder to access log files
backup of files on fileserver.
encryption that one has to actually look into.
Less as easy login's.

Realistic computers

Thats pretty much all that i can think of now.
Just thought i should get this all off my mind and if anyone doesnt like the ideas. Whatever, its just a thought, nothings perfect out there.
But i am quite proud of the programmers of uplink and how i actually had something to do (that was fun) on my extra time...(which would be 24/7)

Anyway, reply and see what any of you guys think.

Let's see.

Operating systems could take a long time to even code them.

We already have a console but if you are not satisfied, you can wait for a Mod.

That would be too easy.

You can make a LAN for yourself. Besides, you aren't going to try and control it. You are a hacker. :)

That would be considered as multiplayer but there are already a few topics on multiple hackers playing together.

That again would make the game too easy.

Don't understand what you mean.
What's the point?

No point in doing that.

This game is not realistic so realism is going to be kicked out.

There is an IRC Chat in the game.

Go to Start, Run and type in cmd.exe, no point in making that in Uplink.

GFX?

No point in making it.

Possibilities are too low.

Possible.

Suggested.

Too much coding!

No realism.

There is a Mod for that.

No point.

No point/Long Coding/Long Thinking

No realism!

That's all.

i can't code so this is just a suggestion.

how about you could start your own company, good or bad. hire agents 2 work for u, choose wot type of company urs is, online hacking toolz shop, gateway shop, hardware upgrades. other ai agents can come and use your shop

I think he meant computer controlled agents trying to hack into your computer system, not multiplayer.

But that would put you under a lot of pressure. Since you are hacking and protecting. People can throw Uplink out of the window like that.

I agree.

What if one could choose their options? Like difficulty.

Just a point, there is an ingame IRC client in v1.3, but before using it I'd also get wolflord's IRC mod from Modlink

Even then, it doesn't compare to a dedicated IRC client like mIRC or XChat

To make it easier, only one connections so no one can hack you while you hack someone else.

And some firewalls to buy.

Logs, in case they hacked you.

AutoTracer or something, active traces connections.

When you caught him, you get money!

An emergency gateway, in case they killed your gateway.

Or pay someone else to caught this guy. (Through BBS)

can someone hack you while you play?? I mean, not a real ingame hacker, like multiplayer, you meant like another computer uplink agent, right?

as for the emergency gateway thing... doesn't makes sense, cause I think you can sort of already do that... you buy two gateways instead of one, and if the one installed is destroyed, you get the second one, right?

I'd really like to have a multiplayer option to have like a "campaign mode" where you could do missions with other hackers and both get payed. That would be quite fun :P
The end is near, and chaos will reign over the cyber-world. And we, the greatest hackers, shall rule over it...
