Why don't we modify some of the missions to include clues, like instead of a password give the Uplink Agent a clue.
Ex:   We have traced a hacker to this computer and in his log we found this clue as to his wear abouts and identity. We need you to refer to several corresponding bounced servers to identify this man and have him arrested.

Something like that, also include an IRC client in the next update of the game, and we can access it through that server button in the options menu. How about an uplink messanger, talk to your buddies in uplink while you play the game.

Awww... some guy using a name that's almost the same as mine...
There already is an IRC client. Get patch 1.3.
The Idea with the clues sounds interesting, but...
Just wait 'till the developers CD is out and post the Idea again.

umm... maybe I'm missing something but what your discribing sounds Identical to the current "trace hacker" missions.

Clues could be used to make interesting missions the problem is how?  I could see maybe if there was something like "We've come to a suspect that a hacker named [insert codename] is responsible for serveral counts of espionege aginst us, we want you to discover, where he is, what damage he's done and the motivation behind it.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.
