Hey all, i havent found a topic like this yet so why not make one...

Just post a message with some ideas that you would like to see in the game such as:

-Ability to make programs (Like .bat files)
-Back Doors
-Military Servers

Ill let other people come up with some.

Don't forget just viruses in general. We definately (sorry about the spelling if its wrong) need more viruses. being able to create your own programs would be cool too, though perhaps a bit too hard for some fans who arn't as technically inclined.

teen 15 no offense but your smokeing some damn good Sh*t if you think this game is any thing like reality you have one screwed since of reality my friend and if you want I can bash your head with a 20 LB sledge hammer to see if that helps fix your sureal sense of reality.

- i would like to see saving multiple connections w/ names instead of just saving the last one ... just a small change but im sure it would make many people very happy ... i also agree with batch files but maybe not programming ... the more they add the more tutorials they need for nubs

One idea you could use is being able to change employers (i.e. not just work as an uplink agent, maybe have some rival company) and you can purchase different programs from different employers instead of having to write your own

That would rule. You could steal uplink secrets and give them to the rival company like the ***SPOILER-ish*** agent names list.

Sorry for getting off topic. People also want to be able to colaberate with other hackers. Like do a bunch of missions with a group of hackers. You go and do one thing in the system another guy does something and the whole system goes down.

Also it would be pretty cool if changing your own social security would actually have realistic effects.

Viruses, definitely. Hud addition. Basically, you can make different types of viruses. Drag and drop. A good version of the virus-making-program-hud-thingy would let you drop in your programs, package it up, then fire it off at the server. Automatically crack proxy & firewall, break password, then access the console, delete the system files and reboot the machine. It pops up a little status window when you drop it, letting you know what's up after you disconnect and clean up your logs.
Add functionality like a passive mode where it simply infects anybody that connects to the server, then once a timer runs out, or you issue a command, all the viruses simultaneously force a server, or DoS a mainframe, or kill their systems...

Probably complicated, though... And personally, I don't see any point behind writing viruses that destroy the systems they infect... it's pretty bad for hackers in general. What kind of job tells you to release an unstoppable virus that destroys everything in its path? oh, yea.. that kind... ;-)

Anyways... Just rambling thoughts...

Apologies if any of these already exist in some mod or other. Or if theyve been done to death.

Minor stuff:

Upgrade for the HUDtracetracker. At present all it shows is the steps already traced. Trace Tracker V1 does that, and clearer. What is needed is a countdown, like Trace Tracker V4.

Notepad. I dont want to hunt around for a pen when Im tracing bank accounts, and why should I have to with a PC in front of me.

Solitaire. For when you just can be bothered hacking another bank

Clean up the OS. What other graphical OS requires an explicit program to copy files? Exactly. Drag and Drop.

A startup menu. I have lost count of the number of times I remember to start up trace tracker half way through a hack.

Text entry. In windows, click on text field, hit del, enter text. In uplink, hover on text field, repeatedly hit backspace, enter text.

Cut&paste. Typos are annoying, especialy when searching Social Security with an active trace in its last seconds.

Somewhat Major Stuff

The ability to open more than one connection at once. Proxy disabler v4 is not good enough? Switch to UIS and buy Proxy Disabler v5. Of course then youd have to put up with multiple traces at once, potentialy. Some interface enhancements need for that I think.

New software appearing over time, for both the hackers and the sysops.

Patch distros instead of full versions. Saves $$$.

A more "live" internet. Logs of other people, both innocent and hackers, appearing for instance. Read interNIC logs and its all stuff youve done yourself.

Other hacker organisations. Maybe the opposition has a tool that uplink cant match.

About text entry fields: Hit the escape key while in the text field, that deletes all text in it (you don't have to hit the backspace key repeatedly)...

Why not just empty the "Fill this in" when the box gets the focus?

And fix that irritating little quirk that requires your mouse to be on top of the box! I like to click and then move my mouse so I can see what I'm typing!

Batch files would be GREAT... I'd write one for "start all bypassers" and "crash system" (the whole console command sequence)

You can already e-mail yourself; notepads would be kinda pointless, though admittedly a feature.

How about a keyboard shortcut to open the program menu? I keep hitting my Win key.

I'm thinking you could buy an empty program, and a dictionary of commands. Instead of making a tutorial for the commands, players will have to figure out the programming through trial and error.

I think this would be kinda cool cause then you could figure out how to make your own:

-Viruses
-Programs Shotcuts
-.bat files

Also, the programs should be saved to your REAL home computer, so players could trade programs with each other. Or if they get an online version, players could trade and sell programs online.

I think this would be cool.
