Core v0.7

Postby Shutsuji » Fri Jul 05, 2013 9:34 pm

Hi all! I haven't posted here in a while
Anyway, I've finally finished the game once, going the Arunmor path. I started over, and I was curious about the Revelation Core v0.7 file that was deleted from ARC's Central Mainframe.

I'm supposed to trace the logs that state which files were deleted, right? The current game time for me is April 2, 2010, 5:53:42.
There are three logs on the ARC Central Mainframe that refer to Revelation, all occurring an April 2, 2010 at 00:00 (midnight):
    894.955.592.252 - Richard Willson's Personal Computer, which deleted a file called RevelationDataV0.7
653.76.253.432 - International Social Security Database, which deleted RevelationCoreV0.7
128.128.128.128 - Introversion Software, which deleted a file called RevelationSpecV0.7

Logically, I traced the log back to the social security database, but the only logs from April 2 were my bounce logs and admin access logs. There was one from April 1 at around 5:30, but it was an access log from Ed Okwechime's Voice Phone System at (07052)021465.

Next, I tried connecting to Richard Willson's PC, but I got the standard "No External Connections Permitted, Please Leave Now" message. And, obviously, the Introversion IP was useless.

Standard "Trace the Hacker" procedure failed, as all LogUndeleting was fruitless.

So, I'm just curious, was the ~6 hours meantime too much, and the logs were deleted, or am I missing something?

Thanks! :)

Just out of interest why do you think the Introversion IP was useless? Did you do anything with the info? The server holds more than just jobs and software.

I only stayed in the Introversion server for at most a minute, but it seemed like it was just a fun Easter egg. I didn't see any way to access logs or anything, so for my purposes it was useless.

To what info are you referring?

Have a good dig around, its quite obvious, but you might just file it away.

I realized what I was doing wrong. I didn't wait long enough for the dead agent's email. I was tracing the wrong logs.

I found the correct logs and successfully traced them back to the dead agent's computer.

Out of interest, what does the Core do? I thought it was to help Arunmor if you email the file to internal@Arunmor.net but it never seems to work :)

Nothing. I think it might be an award, other then that, just bragging rights.

Not much of a bragging right; the trace only uses 4 bounces. By the time the story starts, you'll have already hacked banks for all hardware/software anyway :D
