DevCD is available for sale. Purchase it and see if you can do it.

Well, they did take it out for a reason - it was only intended for testing purposes and was buggy as hell. Cheating in Uplink is pretty pointless, since most of the fun comes from the tension and otherwise you're just going through the motions.

I'm going to go with no, as they are working on other games at the moment.

You're probably best off asking questions in the Development section of the forums. You'll need to PM NeoThermic (or another admin, but NeoThermic's generally the most active) and have him grant you access. You'll need to provide proof of purchase in some form.

camster98: Once you have access to the Development forum download Uplink 1.55 source, for the cheats (if they still works?) there is a #define in the constant definition file.

But I would recommend that you try to build with no modifications first. And then try to enable the cheats (or boost starting agent money).

Why does the Development forum require a Dev-CD to access? Does it have an automatic installer thing to download the newest source code or is it just because they thought people could cull enough data from the posts to compile Uplink w/o buying it? Also, what version of Uplink is being sold?

Speaking of data, I figured out how to access the .ZIP data files, data.dat, and now I'm stuck on world.dat. I tried Red Coat (Empty ZIP), Red Coat 2 (Doesn't make any file), and Red Coat 2 + WinRAR/7-Zip/WinZIP/Compressed (Zipped) Folders (which is apparently different than WinZIP), but nothing worked. s the file even for? The "world" of your characters in saved in *YourName*.usr.

(Yes, I've been trying to figure out the file formats of various things. I'm trying to see how things work, not cheat. Trust me.)

By having a DevCD owners only forum, it allows discussion of the code, links to be posted to updates and development servers etc.
People who don't own the DevCD aren't beholden to the license, and so they can use the code on and linked to within the forums for whatever they like, which is a Bad Thing. Ultimately, there's nothing that people who don't own the DevCD can discuss in the Development subforum that they can't discuss elsewhere, so there's no reason for anyone else to have access.

world.dat is not an archive ;)

Where can I get a program to unencrypt the rotation cypher? I don't think I can unencrpty 13 MB of data by hand. Also, how can a ~1400 file be 13MB? isn't 1000kb = 1 MB?

Is now a bad time to point out that most of your problem revolves around the fact that the decrypted world.dat is (sort of) an mp3 file?

Also, while most dicks peddling hard drives will measure MB as 1000kB and kB as 1000B, computers like to deal with powers of 2 and so the golden figure is 1024.
