I know it sounds silly, but i have actually come to believe that there is a timelimit on the full game (as there is in the demo) as well.
The reason to this madness is that, while i played i get that message about getting busted for big crime and my gateway & account is being destroyed to save me and Uplink. I thought that is was strange because no-one caught me hacking. But i created a new account and started hacking again. Then the same happened, got busted without an apperent explanation. I got quite annoyed on the game, and put it to a test - I leaved it with very fast speed, for some time. I wasent by the screen, but when i came back, i saw the message for big crime, destroying etc. the problem was that the accout hadent made a single hack!
Now, how can that be?
Timelimit on full game???

I' quite new at Uplink (just got it yesterday)
So now I have the same problem...
What bills would have to be paid and in how far can the story get in my way?
I took some time to think about this prob. Could it be that you have to delete logfiles everytime you hack a server, and if you don't you get caught after a time? That would explain this little problem.
(How do I know which logfiles are the ones I have to delete?)

Ok, the perfect crime.
To hack a server, idealy, you want a big chain of bounces to slow down the active trace, ok?
You--->Bounces--->Target.
When you do this, each terminal that you connect to in the chain keeps a log of what connected to it, and what it connected to, so you end up with a trail, connecting you to the Target. Once you disconnect from the Target, they will usually start, bounce by bounce, using the logs to identify who hacked them. This is a passive trace.
Target-->Bounces-->You
What you want to do is access the admin of one of those Bounces and delete the logs, in order that the Target can not follow the trail of logs you left behind, meaning thet can't find you.
Because you need a server in the chain you need to delete the logs off, you want a server which doesn't respond to any hacking attempts. This can either be InterNIC (recommended) or the Uplink Test Server. That means you'll probably always want to start with these servers at the very beginning of the trace, so they are always the last in the trail.
To delete logs:
Done! Although, always leave 1 more connection log than disconnection log, so when you disconnect, they are of equal numbers. Just get rid of the admin access and redirection ones to be on the safe side.

To delete logs:
- Connect to server.
- Log into admin account.
- Enter the admin section.
- Open the logs
- Use the "Log Deleter" to individually delete all suspicious logs.
- Disconnect.

how to not get caught
agreed, you do leave log's behind from your bounced location's and eventualy you will get caught. what i figured out is once youve gotten further into the game delete all of the ip addresses you have and go get new one's that dont have your log on there, that would gurantee your "survival" in the game untill whatever happen's at the end
dont tell me im worth it for i have no soul
