my problem:
i got uplink about 1 year ago and i played it very often! after a break of 1 year ( today xD) i like to play it again, so i tried to install but there is no way to play it!
i tried to play the demo, no luck!
in the instfolder there r only files and no folders!
after game start i can register as a new user and suddenly the music sounds like a robot or a cracy machine ^^
then my pc crashes...
the inst. folder is about 27mb big...
PLZ HELP ME I WANT TO PLAY!!!
would it be a good idea to buy the developer cd and make a new setup file with the source code and c++??

Try the latest test demo
ok i tried the 1.45 demo at the pc of a school friend and it works well!
i am going to try it at home but i dont think it will help. because the patch only change the installed files, and the installed files are not in my installfolder! (just some rars, the exe, and stuff i dont know what it is xD)
i am sure that there should be at least 3 folders because i know that a year ago i changed some skins, IN THE FODLERS, but they arent there...
plz help

First off, I know English isn't your first language but the situation isn't helped by you insisting on using txt talk, please try to type properly. Its hard for us to understand you otherwise. Plus, it makes us less willing to help.
Secondly, if I remember correctly, the only time you would have folders in your Uplink directory is if you unzip some of the dat files in order to apply your mods or if you are using the new patch which creates folders for the usr files.
Thirdly, have you checked to make sure that you didn't install the demo on top of the full version? Ensure that your demo and full games are seperate.
Fourthly, ensure that when you applied the 1.45 (there is no 4.5 to my knowledge) patch to the correct directory i.e. the full version.
Fifthly, if you are having problems with shortcuts you can modify their targets by right clicking them, selecting properties and changing it from there. Alternatively, just create a new one on your desktop and the wizard should take you through it.

oh sry ^^
so right now i found out that i have a limited number of seconds to play, i dont know why but i know now that i am missing no files, the game just chrashes after 30secs or more!
i also found out that i have more time when i am staring the game in compatibily mode for windows NT!?
i installed only the full version, the demo i have uninstalled.
when i try to download the 1.45 patch my browser says:
"Not Found
The requested URL /test/UplinkPatch-1.45.exe was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."
is someone able to give me another link or upload to filefactory/rapidshare?

There shouldn't be any rar's in your Uplink dir, do you mean .dat's?

right now i found out that when i deactivate the music the game works glad! ^^ so,... now i can play but does anyone know why the music file is crap?
at the moment i dont have installed the 1.47 patch, does anyone know if the patch would correct the music.dat failure?

AFAIK, if you deactivate Hardware-aceleration, it works.
