The Neuromancer rating is just a measure of your "ethics" (as determined by the Introversion crew) as you play. It shows whether you are more likely to hurt companies ("good") or other hackers ("bad"). It does not affect what missions you can accept.
I've questioned its presence in the game and the logic behind the "ethics". If you want to read my take on it there's a rant I posted in the General section earlier this year. Try searching that section, although it may have been archived by now.

Revelation is a computer virus that ARC is using to... just follow the storyline along to see what it does.
BTW: Just so you have something to look forward to with Neuromancer rating, I am "Morally Bankrupt".

Hehe, kay. I will hack some pc's and tune up mine, before i go on with the story....btw...if you get an email with a job, that you havent selected...will they go after some time or are these jobs story-based and wont disappear untill you did them?

Those jobs are part of the storyline, so they must be done shortly after you recieve them or you may be left out of the loop, or at least run the risk of being left behind.
I do know the start of the story, the message from the dead agent, must be done right away or you will miss out.
actualy. that rating does afect your misions. for instance if your rating is bad and you want to take a good rating mission you wont have as many of them and ehm if you press contact wanting more moneu or some or all of the money now they will always say no. this works vice versa to
i use uplink for fun. i just place my self in jail each time i get 100 mill. (hapends 3 times a month)

Hello, everyone
I'm now a Proud Level 2 Uplink Agent, a Techno-Mage.
My Neuromancer rating is "Cossack". WTF does that mean?
Bank hacking has become second nature to me, though there is always a chance that I can get caught, but 90% of the time it only happens if I try to hack another bank account right after finishing the first one.
Surprisingly it seems most of the accounts I'm hacking are those of other Uplink Agents. One in particular had around 60K in his account. That definately beat the 1K - 3K that I usually stole.
In a sad moment, I never have received any of the "trace unauthorized money transfer" missions. I really could've used the credits.
So do the missions really get affected by your Neuromancer rating?
I hope abandoning a mission won't mess things up too badly, I accepted a mission to trace a hacker but the mission was already 5+ days old plus their LAN was hacked and I didn't have the software at the time, so I just took a raise (more money), took ALL the money in advance, then abandoned the mission a week later. Oh well, I kept my money!
There are several missions in the mission list but it says "We cannot allow you to contact this employer as per their specific instructions". So I guess those missions are to hire others to find me, right? Let the newbies try, I'll hack all their accounts and then hack into the GCD and throw em all in jail! HAHHAHAHHAHA! =D
Lets see them hire someone now...
*ahem* Anyways, it seems Neuromancer ratings are important, but "Cossack" makes no sense to me.
Perhaps its because I'm using the "Simply Uplink" mod?
Any thoughts?
Till then.

All The Details Right Here
Guys it's simple.
just go to the ultimate uplink guide (http://guide.modlink.net/section2.php#2-2)
it's all there (along with heaps of other stuff)
Also
Its probably better if people check the guide before posting as the answer to your question is probably in there. (its never let me down)
