Uplink problem on Ubuntu 12.04

I was delighted to see uplink in the latest humble bundle and installed it on my ubuntu 12.04 laptop. It installed fine and I could log in the game. My problem lies in the fact that I cannot seem to click on the icons at the bottom of the screen. When I go to the options screen, I see new icons appearing (video, audio etc.) but I cannot click on those icons. So once in that screen I can never leave because the "return" icon is also unclickable. I have googled and read this forum without any reference to my problem.

Is this a known problem? Is this an uplink problem or Ubuntu problem?
I am running uplink version 1.6

I am noticing this as well. Running the tutorial and first step is click on the flashing hardware button at the bottom of the screen, but you can't. the larger Sat. Dish button seems to work fine.

Running latest code in Ubuntu Software Center: uplink 1:1.6.0-0ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 12.04 x64. If you need more info let me know.

I have exactly the same issue. Sat dish works. The rest of the icons on the bottom row seem unclickable.

I have the same problem with the buttons.
Look in the post 'Humble Bundles - Ubuntu 12.04' in 'General': from August.
I'll try this solution. Perhaps this will help. ->fullscreen

After the last post, I searched on that topic and found this:


"Great Game, One Annoying Bug
I was able to get Uplink during one of the Humble Bundles. As other people have mentioned, there is a bug which prevents you from clicking the bottom buttons. the "-graphics_fullscreen" option did help. Find and drag the Uplink icon from your dash to your desktop. Add -graphics_fullscreen to the command field within properties. This will allow you to run Uplink in window mode. I was able to then go into the options and set the game resolution to my native resolution. This allowed me to run Uplink fullscreen without a problem."
