Uplink "Crash" (???)

Postby RickNovile » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:35 am

(I use Windows XP and this is on Steam)
I got Uplink as part of the Introversion Bundle on Steam, and everytime I try to play it it simply starts up like any other steam game (A little window say "Loading [Name of Game]" and my status changes to "Rick Novile is now playing [Name of Game]" but within about 2 seconds, it goes back to saying "Rick Novile is Online" and nothing pops up for the game.

Go into your steamapps folder, find Uplink in there and start the game from the .exe file.

Now it pops up with the message: "This Application has failed to start because Steam.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"
???

[EDIT] I looked around and found the tip about changing the extension of one of the things from .dll.bak to .dll. This worked and I successfully launched the game twice. However, a third try rendered the same results as the original post says

Try closing Steam completely, removing clientregistry.blob from the Steam folder and launching the Steam.exe again. It will take some time to rebuild the file but this fixes most problems.
