Uplink will not install on Ubuntu 9.10

I just bought the game.
I get this error when I try to run the downloaded .sh file:
I tried to do a "sudo apt-get install libgtk-1.2" but that didn't work either, it was not found. So I started synaptic, and I couldn't find it there either, but I had libgtk-2.0 installed tough.[/code]
