I was sitting happily playing Uplink, when it shuts down and informs me my copy is illegal, something which was quite surprising because I'm sitting here with the CD and code-sheet, which I got directly from Introversion, in my hands right now. That's the bug, and a pretty bad one.
I can make a new account fine, but is there any way of restoring my old game?

This has happened with my new game about one-two hours in as well.
Hooray for DRM! If HANNS·G decided I'd stolen their monitor, they'd have to, you know, come up with some kind of proof, and maybe get the appropriate permission before waltzing in and taking it. But, with the magic of DRM, you can do just that!
Not happy.

Yeah the same thing happened to me. About 2 hours in it pops up telling me i have an illegal version. The first time it happened I was playing the Strategy First Version, so i went and bought the version directly from the Introversion website, and again about two hours or so into game play the illegal version message pops up and locks my account. It is running on the latest version 1.6. Can anyone give me any insights as to a possible fix for this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

If you are running 1.6, then you are either a Mac user, in which case you need to seek help from Ambrosia Software ( http://ambrosiasw.com ), or you are running the Onlink Mod, which still requires a full version of the game from IV, but is not supported here, as IV have nothing to do with it.

Hi
I have exactly the same problem.
I bought the game directly form introversion (I still have the bill as a proof).
I use the 1.54 patch downloaded from the introversion website (http://www.introversion.co.uk/uplink/otherfiles.html).
The game runs under an up to date GNU/Linux distro.
How to get rid of that problem ?
If the best way to play this game is to get a illegal cracked version, be honnest and just say it.
thanks
