Virus warning on installing Uplink demo

Postby Mystic » Wed Apr 22, 2009 8:17 pm

I've tried several times over the last year to install the Uplink demo for Windows (downloading it fresh from Introversion's website each time), but during the installation process, F-PROT AV always reports uplink.exe as being infected and then quarantines it. Has anyone else encountered a problem like this? I'm hoping that it's just a false positive, but I don't have an answer from the makers of F-PROT about that yet.

It's called a "false positive". I've downloaded and checked and got nothing showing up with it at all.

When this happens, try uploading it to VirusTotal: http://www.virustotal.com/
They scan files with a lot of antivirus programs.

Edit: Just downloaded and sent it. It had already been analysed: http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/33e8 ... 2b5c2846aa

Hey, that's a pretty cool site, and I've now bookmarked it. Thanks.

So most AV software doesn't detect any problem, but three of them do detect more or less the same possible problem. I agree that most likely it is just a false positive, but I'm still inclined to have my AV maker analyze the file for themselves to verify that.
