Uplink no longer runs

Postby Aaron_H » Mon Oct 01, 2007 11:38 pm

Hi all,

I'm having problems playing uplink now.
I just did a fresh reinstall of Windows XP. Before I reinstalled, Uplink ran fine (and I have not installed any new hardware since)..

When I installed Uplink from the CD (v1.31), it would just change my screen resolution to 800x600 then close. So I upgraded to the lastest patch. Now I just get an error message saying "A fatal error occured in Uplink. Please report this on the Uplink forums at http://introversion.co.uk. Uplink will now shut down."

I'm running XP, SP2 with all the latest updates. My computer is:
P4 3.2Ghz (First gen with the 512K L2 Cache),
1024MB RAM
and a GeForce 4200Ti 64MB (My graphics card died a few months back to I have to put this old one in. :(.. Getting a 7800 tomorrow though :D)

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Aaron.

Update your graphic and sound drivers. Also update directx.

Worse case, put this opengl32.dll file in your Uplink directory, it will turn sofware rendering on at the price of slower frame rate.

Thanks for the advice. I thought I'd already updated the graphics and soundcard drivers.

Turns out there were slightly newer graphics card drivers that what I had installed and this fixed the problem.

Thanks anyway but sorry to bother you!
