Game hacking / lagging
i have searched through the forums and i haven't found any solution of my problem.
The game after installation is working extremely slow and i mean.... SLOOOW...
Here's the DxDiag info (instead of computer specs):
http://muaddib.sytes.net/DxDiag.txt
I hope that you can help me, i tried to install my old uplink version and updated it to v. 1.31 and that runs really smoothly i have turned off all AntiAliasing, Vertical Sync and Anisotrophic filtering but there is no change in the game working slow.
Tried Safe Mode, remove button animation, default worldmap...
nothing...
as i said, hope you can help me because i don't want to play with 1.31 anymore when there is new patches out there.
Tested Versions:
1.31 (Works Perfect)
1.54 (Lagging/Hacking)
1.55 (Lagging/Hacking)
Edit: Added more information

Perhaps related to processor affinity (AMD dual core bug)? Check Common Darwinia Bugs! --with-solutions or Dual-Core Lag.
If this solve your problem, update your bios and motherboard drivers.
Worse case, Perhaps try updating your NVIDIA GeForce 6600 video drivers.

You'll notice I provided a permanent solution in the thread which frenchfrog referred you to.
Just create a txt file in the Uplink directory, enter the following into it:
then rename the file, changing the file extension from 'txt' to 'bat'. Double click the file to run it like a normal program, and it'll permanently set affinity for 1 core (by 'masking' one of the cores to the program). This should have exactly the same effect as manually setting affinity every time.

Code: Select all
imagecfg -u uplink.exe
imagecfg -a 0x1 uplink.exe
pausethen rename the file, changing the file extension from 'txt' to 'bat'. This solution did not work.
"Uplink.bat" returned this:
Code: Select all
D:\Uplink>imagecfg -u uplink.exe
'imagecfg' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
D:\Uplink>imagecfg -a 0x1 uplink.exe
'imagecfg' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
D:\Uplink>pause
Press any key to continue . . .Hrm. I presume that this means you just don't have 'imagecfg.exe' in your System32 folder for whatever reason - you can download it from here (place in C:\Windows\System32).
Alternatively, do as frenchfrog suggests and update motherboard and BIOS drivers.
