I was replaying Uplink and all of a sudden it went to the desktop and said "Uplink has encountered a fatal error" or something like that and then i clicked okay and Uplink shut down. When i tried going back i went ot my user and clicked on it and pressed okay to login as him and the game went VERY briefly to the loading screen and then went back to the startup screen almost automatically. However, when i started a new character it worked just fine. Any ideas?

Sounds like the usr file may have been corrupted. What version are you using? For what OS? Any debug files in you Uplink dir?

Latest Uplink patch is v1.55.
