Linux (Ubuntu) crash

Postby Hammerheart » Tue Feb 20, 2007 11:26 pm

I found a bug in the startup script for uplink. It causes the game to try and start up, then immediately crashes back to the desktop.

For now, the easiest way to play it is to copy the .dat files where uplink is installed to the lib directory in the same location. I'll likely get around to fixing the script a little later but I'm headed back to work for now.

This kind of bug should create a debug.log file in ~/.uplink/

Yeah that's how I eventually found it. The problem is that if you run it in full screen mode, it crashes out without making that file even if you run it with +game_debugstart. I had to turn on windowed mode as well to get the debug log. Not really difficult, I just finally got the time today to sit down and figure it out.
