I like this game a lot. I made Grade 4 Professional, without too much cheating.
Did anyone else see this in the v.1.0 readme.txt:
"If you could tell us how to reproduce the bug, we'd be greatful."
Which, of course, I take to mean "full of great", as opposed to "thankful".
Oh, wait, I found a bug:
I was working in the Uplink Test server using the Log_Deleter v.4.
I had logged a lot of bounce records and I was being careful.
Watching as the empty log lines bubble upwards towards the top.
Hypnotizing. Like watching a caterpiller crawl down a leaf.
I prolly had five or six deleters in-progress when my Trace Tracker
was double, and triple beeping and then BOOM! I got disconnected!
Uplink cut me off! Luckily they're my friends, I have to be very careful. . .
But when I returned to that same log record, those shifting spaces
were frozen in place. I tried again with the Deleter but the
empty spaces stayed there and just wouldn't go away.
So then I chose to get primative, and visit the console.
I used the commands ":>cd log" and "log:>delete". Oops...
Uplink crashed right back to my Linux desktop. SuSE 9.0.
Here's my debug.log (some of it):

So, I'm betting this has already been addressed and maybe fixed?
Has anyone else seen those frozen empty records in a server log?
The shifting of empty lines in View Logs is a nice touch, but they shouldn't become
an integral part of the log file. If they do, an Agent might think he could use them.
Moves other logs up to cover empty space.

Linux SuSE 9.0 with KDE 3.2
Thank you for the 1.54 patch.
I will try it soon after I jail a few more Uplink Agents in my current 1.31 version.
KingAI:
From what I know of Chris, we will NEVER have an Uplink version 2.
He'll just freeze the version at 1.666 and start in on the alphabet. . .
1.666a
1.666b
1.666c

More on patch 1.31
If you don't speak UPLiNK I have a translation I'll post later for this:
Well,
I was watching out for side effects and I talked to my Doctor. . .
He gave me an industrial strength perscription of Metamucel.
I've been trying to cut down on chocolate flavored Pop Tarts, or
at least switch over to the more healthful strawberry ones.
Then, that was when my DCOM withered, from lack of confidence.
It can happen with some men. I was so embarrassed.
My exam at the clinic found more apple flavored Pop Tarts firmly lodged in the snarky OS X manifest.
So at least my problems aren't systemic. I just can't eat apples.
Allergic reactions, you know?
Nope, it's plain vanilla YaST for me. The yogurt of champions.
Okay,
If someone on the forum knows what relationship there is between Introversion, and
http://icculus.org
Send me a PM (so I can BM.)

This is the translated technical version:
PC Health,
I was cleaning my Junk Mail folder where I got a spam from
some gimackysnorkelwacker about ESPRĒ of Plano Texas.
I downloaded some PDF files about their products and video codec descriptions
because my Linux boxes have none working yet.
I've been using Microsoft based software for video capture and edit,
but I'm trying to leave that platform entirely.
I downloaded and installed Uplink v1.31 on SuSE 9.0 and then, it crashed my KDE 3.2 Desktop Communications so
it couldn't be restarted, even in a new X windows session. The dialup modem was disconnected and DCOM lacked
any network connection for the newly installed OS X socket. (huh?)
I felt bad that this had come from Introversion, since they do good work.
After manually removing the offending socket call, X windows worked again.
This installation also placed some installation files in a hidden directory under ~/uplink named ./manifest.
Files from there looked like Mac OS filenames and indeed the code inside was for Apple. An XML update link too.
So, it had not destroyed KDE.
Mac OS X is based on the same kind of unix code that SuSE Linux is based on and they can't always share.
Random crashes result, you know?
I'll stick to using the YaST software installation tool. SuSE programmers have fun.
Enough BS,
Will someone here find out and tell me what Introversion and the:
http://icculus.org
service are going to do or have already done?
Use private e-mail (so I can archive my current Uplink v1.31 and safely move up to v1.54).

I guess only the DEVs know this stuff. . . You could Print and Compare ?
