Non-admin account problems

My parents got me full-version Uplink for my birthday, which is great, but for some reason whenever I try to start the program the only thing that shows up is one of those "would you like to send an error report" Miscrosoft dialogues. The thing is that we discovered that only happens with my account (which, among other things, doesn't have access to the Program Files folder). If it's run from my mother's admin account or right-click-Run-As with her account, it works fine. I've suggested to my mother it would work if we simply installed the program to a folder on my desktop or similar instead of to PF but she doesn't agree. Would that help, do you think, and if not what would?

Yeah, it would helps, the problem is that Uplink need write access to it's install directory.
