I tried to modify the graphics.dat ad the patch.dat files to create a new gateway, following the instructions of the mods.txt file, but when I attempt to create the file Mygateway.txt in the directory, it doesn't work
So Itried to unzip the file, modify it and Zip it again and rename it in .dat, but when I start the game, there are several images missing and graphic errors.
I obviously verified that I modified ONLY that gateway files and nothing else...
I am using an Uplink 1.31 without any patch on linux...
can anyone help me?
I cannot create Gateways!

ok, this post is a while ago apparently, and this is the first time i'm posting on this forum, so sorry if i'm reviving a dead thread but i saw linux problems and just couldn't resist
first of all, you don't need to re-zip the stuff after you add a gateway. it works wit just the folder contents, too. so you've just got your folder /usr/games/uplink/lib/graphics/ or whatever the path to your install is, and that's where the stuff goes. no re-zipping and re-renaming needed. (same goes for windows btw).
then, make sure the permissions are ok. i could ask to look if it's this or that, but in a commandline (terminal, xterm, console, whatever) you just cd to the right folder (the graphics folder - you might also have to do this for the .txt file for your gateway) and then type 'chmod 777 * ; chown root:games *' , quite probably as root or with sudo. that should pretty much do it.
