Flashing Black

Postby durnurd » Mon Oct 31, 2005 3:43 am

I recently got a new graphics card for my computer (Radeon X800). Now, whenever I start Uplink, the screen is completely black, and only shows the parts that update whenever they are updated. For example, As soon as I start, it only displays the text being typed in and nothing else. If I move the mouse to the place where I usually type in my user/pass, those boxes show up for a split second, then dissappear. Same with the menu items on the right.

Any help? I've updated my video drivers to the latest version already.

Have you deleted the OpenGL32.dll file from the Uplink directory? :)

Try starting in safemode, then go into the options and try readjusting the graphic options to match your desktop.

Ah, all to no avail. It seems that no matter what I do, the bpp and refresh rate aren't saved. Only the resolution. And while it does display in safe mode, the lack of full-screen and it being safemode are somewhat distracting.

I'm wondering if you installed the most recent drivers for your card, or if the drivers were installed properly. I've had problems with Uplink's graphics after installing the new drivers.

Try uninstalling the drivers, reboot, then reinstall. If you're using XP, try doing it all from the admin account in safe mode so nothing interferes with the process.
