Unable to see main menu in demo/1.31

Sup all.

Before I got the actual game, I tried the demo, obviously addicting me.
Problem with it was, I was never able to see the main menu for the demo. Everytime I ran the game it showed me the 'create new agent' screens, and clicking the X at the top left will not show me the menu, it only quits if i doubleclick (a single press of F12 quits immediately). This problem is quite similar to the thread shown below:

As for the actual game itself, 1.0 shows me the menu only when I first run it, there is no way to get back to menu ingame. For 1.31 I encounter the same problems as the demo.

Help would be nice.

PS Most likely one of you will say "reinstall and repatch" but I've already tried it numerous times. No effect.

Did you delete the Uplink directory after you uninstalled it?  If not I would uninstall again and delete the Uplink directory before reinstalling.  It seems there are some file permission problems sometimes.  :)

I guess DirectX wouldn't be a problem, since Uplink doesn't use it as far as I know. Uplink is based on OpenGL...
Have you tried renaming (or removing) the opengl32.dll file from your Uplink directory? That forces the game to use the OpenGL support of your graphics drivers.

1.31 patch does not work in demo so try uninstalling the game and delete all uplink files on your computer and delete all registry entries
