I installed everything off of the CD twice to make sure it wasnt something screwy durring install.  I get through the registration proccess of the game fine I buy the first level password breaker and go to do the Test hack.  I load the program fine but when I click on the username or password feild it gets admin in there and then figures out the first two letters are "ro" and then it crashes out.  I do have the latest 1.3.1 patch.  I am using Win2k pro sp3, ATI Raedon 9500pro 2.1 GHZ AMD XP.  btw only one monitor connected.  the following is from the debug file.  Of course those familiar with it, it does load everything with the game fine and says character created then...

er... just one of uplink's many random crashes...

Does it always do it?

Have you tried making a new user and doing it?

Try entering the actual user and password.

Username: Admin
Password: Rose

That might help.

The password is "rosebud", not rose

I have tried to create a new user and that didnt' work.  I entered the info manually and got in and it kicked me right back out.  After that the admin/rosebud will not work.

1. Apply the 1.31 patch (Rapier said he did, but I don't know if the others did, too). You can find it on Introversions site in the "Other Files" section.

2. Install the latest graphics driver for your graphics card. If there are separate OpenGL drivers for your graphics card, then try those, too (I read a post of someone who found separate OpenGL drivers for his graphics card, which were not packed with the common driver...)

3. Try removing (or renaming) the opengl32.dll file from your Uplink directory. (Best make a backup copy of the file in case it only gets worse.) This will make Uplink use the OpenGL drivers of your graphics card, and not the ones shipped with Uplink.

4. Try starting the game with some of the command line options mentioned in the Readme.txt file, like "+graphics_safemode"...

Are you all using Windows 2000, and all an ATI Radeon card? I heard of several people with Voodoo 3 cards having problems...
