anyway, try changing some of the setting, like colour-depth and fullscreen from the shortcut to uplink...

Ok, here's something interesting.  My uplink did not even have the openGL drivers or that Gue one you mentioned. So it wasn't that.  My drivers were working fine.  I mated the color depths, resolution, and matced everything, still no improvement.  However, I had forgotten that I did not unzip the DAT files, and once I didi that, I was able to play uplink for 3 hours striaght without a disturbance.  Only thing that happened was when I checked my debug.log, it displayed an entry that said it was saving my profile.....and then it printed a bunch of junk.  So, it was a saving error.  Anyway, it's working alot better.  If you havena Unzipped all the DAT files but Data and World, do so, that may help.  I have done everything that I could, and this worked.
