Since i bought the game ive been getting these error messages saying that uplink must now close, when i first started i could play the game for 45mins but now it will only last 5-10mins until the error message comes up, ive installed the patch, i think its quite poor that introversion havnt brought out a newer patch since 9thsept which was near to the games release date in the uk. Ive checked the bug report and it has too many failed reports than i can type. Anyone else getting these problems ( i really wish it worked uplink is a cool game)

Try starting a new user.  If that doesn't work post the debug.log file here (its in the users directory).  :)

First get the latest patch, creating a new user and see what happens.  :)

Those logs are from the unpatched game, if you get errors with the patch post those logs here as well.  :)

I have the newest patch but still had this problem on my game (started before installing patch). Starting a new game after installing the patch seems to solve this problem. Thanks for the advice. If i have more problems i will get back to you

Did you override the existing Uplink.exe (well obviously you didn't or the logs would be different)?  :)

And it does say "Version: 1.31" in the debug.log? (If it says "Version: 1.0", then you didn't apply the patch correctly...)

Tell you what, I am having hte exact same problems as the log listed above.  my version says 1.31 and it crashes after 20 minutes of play.  Is there some freakish file in there that should not be there or something?  Or does the directory structure have to be jsut perfect ot run it?  QUite frankly this is a pain in the butt.  I have done everything Iced Link has done, and no luck whatsoever.

THe debug log is completely up to date and every entry that it makes says Ver 1.31 as it should.  But, after about 10, sometimes 20 minutes, it jsut, stops.  It doesn't lock up bad enough to where I can't turn the computer off, but a quick ctrl-alt-del resets the system fine.  And there is absolutely no pattern to the lockups either.  That's why it is wierd.  I had a version that I got from a friend of mine in the uk like 2 years ago.  And I used to run it on a 300 Mghz with a 4 meg vid card and 64 meg of ram, it ran fine, a little slow, but it was great.  Now, I ahve a 350 Mgzh, with 128 Meg ram and a 32 meg vid card.  The game runs perfect....until it locks up.  And nothing in the log looks suspicious.  Is it something with the actual programming od the .Exe file or what?  It's a real pain, I'll tell ya.  I even got the latest and greatest vid drivers, set my refresh rate on the game to match my monitor, the screen size, the color bitrate, absolutely eveything.  I'm lost and frusterated

if you have a new system and installed new drivers for your video card, try deleting opengl32.dll and glu32.dll from the uplink directory under Program Files. that should probably be the cause of the hangups. if the problem persists post it here.
