fatal error upon loading

Hiya everybody

    I have fully installed uplink and all its components as well as the latest patch (version 1.31). And still when i attempt to load the game it displays this message,

    A fatal error occured in uplink

    Please report this on the uplink forums at........

    Uplink will now shut down
Please help me PLEASE !!!!!!!

I would uninstall, deleting the Uplink folder afterwards, and then reinstall.  :)
