Get the 1.31 update for the game from Introversion's web site:
http://www.introversion.co.uk/uplink/otherfiles.html
If you run RedHat 8, then you'll also need the additional "RedHat 8" patch from the site (you don't need that for RedHat 9 anymore).

If you have a graphics chip from NVidia (TNT, TNT2, GeForce, etc.), then you can download a Linux driver from NVidia's web site. The current driver is easy to install (it's an executable file that does all the necessary compilation stuff itself).
However, you might have to change some settings on your system to actually use that driver:
in /etc/X11/XF86Config (or XF86Config-4, depends on your system):
In the "Modules" section, the lines with "fbdevhw" and "dri" should be commented out, and there should be a line loading "glx".
In the "Device" section, the "Driver" option should say "nvidia", not "nv" (nv is the original driver, nvidia is the new NVidia driver).
This only applies to NVidia chips, of course, but I guess other graphics chip manufacturers might be offering Linux drivers, too.
Also, if you don't have "glut" (OpenGL Utility Toolkit) installed, you might need to install that, too. It should either be available on your installation CDs, or you could search the net for it. If you are using RedHat, Mandrake, SuSE, etc. you could try RPM-Find to search for "glut". If you use Debian, then I think you cannot use RPM-Packages...
