I just downloaded the mac demo. I like it so far, but the game freezes at random points. I have to restart my whole machine, a rare occurrence in OSX for me. I see no pattern to the freezes. They are not total freezes though...there is still sound as intermittent blips, but nothing else responds. Can't even force quit the game (hence the force restart of the machine).

Using MacOS 10.1.5, only an early G4 (350mhz) with 640MB of memory.

You might try getting the OSX update (10.2.6) and seeing if that helps.  The Mac Demo just came out and so there is very little known about it, so it may take a little while to work out some of the fixes.  :)

The semi-freeze seems especially prone to happen at the beginning log in screen of the game.

Possibly also when the mouse is moved, but that may just be coincidence.

Running OS X 10.2.5, the game irrevocably freezes every time i'm in the "map" screen and click on anything.  at all.  This kinda precludes me from playing the game at all.

G4 400 MHz with an ATI Rage 128 graphics card.

You might make sure you have the latest video drivers.  :)

I really wish I could help, but ever since a traumatic sexual experince with a Mac when in grade school, I've prefered to avoid them.  ;)

BurntMonkeyDude:

Yes, I have the lastest video drivers, at least the latest ones I know of.  Just in case, though, throw a link that points me to the ones YOU'RE using...if, indeed, you have a Rage 128, that is.

No I don't use the ATI Rage.  I don't even have a Mac at the moment.   The only other thing I can think of is to try reducing the resolution.  :)

I would do that, except it's set at 640x480 :)

Do other OpenGL applications (games) run ok, or are they slow aswell?  :)

A few other OpenGL apps crash my comp in OS X, but not OS 9.  GLTron is not among them.  Any help on that?

Speaking of OS 9, the Mac demo seems to be able to run in OS 9 (without the little crashy bug on the map screen) but as I play the game it gets progressively slower until, finally, no functions are possible.  Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?
