Password/Dictionary Hacks not working?

It's a bug that's easy to get around, but I thought I should report it. On specific missions where the employer wants you to hack into a bank account and do whatever, the password and dictionary hacks doesn't work. I tried clicking everywhere, including disabling my monitor lvl 5 bypass but it doesn't seem to resolve it.

My current remendy is to quit and replace that corrupted user file with my old one. I thought it was fluke, but it happened to be me twice now.

It may be the fact that as you're trying to hack a bank, you may not be putting the right thing in the appropriate field.

You don't put the name of the person in, you put the account number of that person. Then, when you try the password breaker, you shall see that it works. No need for replacing your user now.

I narrowed it down some more. I double-checked and found that almost all the bank hacking missions worked except for "Esteemed person wants to make a donation" mission (I think the wording it off). I made sure I did everything right too: account number, using the right hack (!!), and upgrade some of my stuff (I have lvl 5 proxy and lvl 5 monitor on the HUB now). But it doesn't seem to work.

Again, minor bug since I can avoid that mission, but it's a bug nevertheless.

Well, the bank hacking missions work for me, and if it's the case that you can't play them, well, hopefully when the DevCD comes out, maybe some people, probably not myself, as I don't know C++, might be able to fix some of these problems.

xiothar:  Make sure you are using the origin account and not the target account number.  That has gotten people in the past.  And when you do get in and transfer the mone don't delete the statements.  :)

You know, I bet that was it (Putting in the targetted account number to transfer the money to).

I can't really checked it, my user got caught hacking into ARC mainframe the wrong way... and somehow they managed to find me even though I cleaned my traces. I bet it's because I did another mission so soon that they were able to figure out my interNIC bounce... Oh well.

Nah, you just left a log somewhere's.  Once you develop your compulsive-obsessive disorder to clean InterNIC each time you do a job, you should be fine...and this is also another way to tell who's an Uplink psycho.  You might be such if you really visit InterNIC to clear your logs, lol.

Hehe.. yeah. It took my like 4 or 5 burns before I developed my obsessive compulsive disorder for log deleting. Actually for a long time I would actually route through internic and then uplink test machine EVERY time and delete the logs from both places.

But back then I was real paranoid, and quite high strung from worrying that I'd get the black screen of the disavowed.
