I assume there is no debug.log file (it would be in the Uplink\users directory.  :)

sounds almost the same as in the other recent posts made. you notice it's becoming more frequent, Stews? I'm beginning to suspect that this is no longer a question of drivers or software incompatibility, there must be something (you know what i mean) being passed around for people to play with.

Let me guess.  You downloaded the game from the Iinternet, right?  More than likely, if uninstalling the game completely (and deleting directory), then reinstalling doesn't work, this could be because it was downloaded.  Which of y'all got the game off the Internet?

There are a lot of things that can cause page faults.  Bad memory can cause them, but that is all most certainly not the case here.  It could be a driver issue, a bug in the Uplink code (this is certainly a possibility, which we can test when the DevCD is released), or it corruption of game files from a downloaded installation.  Specific system information would be required to begin to figure out which one it is.  :)

Basically its like Confederate EDA said in another topic, most system settings are loaded from system files into RAM at startup, from then on they are accessed in RAM.  If a program exits baddly it can corrupt the settings in memory and cause errors when other application try to access the settings.  This often happens with graphics as the control of the graphics card is passed between applications.  :)
