Gateway upgrade crash

I finally decided to play uplink again, and i got a new user pretty far, then i decided to change some graphics options and all my buttons disappeared... so i reinstalled the game, re-patched it, and the buttons are back, but now, every time i go to upgrade my gateway (i'm still using my initial one) it crashes

Well, I think if it was that reinstalling the game would have fixed it, unless he's still using the same user, in which case Stews is probably right.  If it's not then can you tell us which gateway you're upgradig to?
