Does abandoning a mission effect the game ?

Im stuck on a destruction of data mission, I used just 3 bounces and modified the internic logs but after more than 1 week the guy still was never arrested

My question is this; If I abandon the mission will I be able to accept other work from the same company or will they not be interested in me because I abandoned a job ?

Repeatedly abandoning missions will result in your Uplink Rating dropping a level which may prevent you doing certain missions until you regain that level. Abandoning a single mission shouldn't result in anything more drastic than losing a few score points.
