Tough luck, probably related to firewall/anti-virus/anti-spyware issues.

When I try it, Norton tells me it is the Back Orifice Trojan and blocks it. I haven't tried without Norton.

Does uplink.exe actually use that trojan tech to shell to irc?

I guess it's just a Norton false hit, some virus/trojans used to connect to IRC channels so that the infected computer can be controled remotely.

The uIRC is not worth the money.
I recommend you use a real client, such as XChat, or mIRC in a worst casae scenario.

You use Norton?

You're an idiot. Honestly. I am not kidding you. I used to work for Symantec and that bloody program generates more false positives, and actually lets viruses into your system. Get AVG or Avast! and Zone Alarm, or if you can find it, the last version of Sygate Personal Firewall.

They will let it work fine.

Speaking of which...

Rkiver, you might be able to help me with something.
I have a program called Symantec AntiVirus installed on my school laptop, and I'd like to have it removed.
I have an admin account, however when I try to uninstall it it pops up a password prompt, and I can't continue.
Is there any way to bypass this, or crack the password?

There should be. Make sure you have windows set to show hidden files and folders.

Go into Documents and Settings, All Users, Common Settings and look for a symantec folder. In that folder look for an exe with a stupidly long alphanumeric name of gibberish. Double click that and it should ask you if you want to install, repair, or uninstall. You shouldn't need a password.
