In the game?
Or on the web?

If you want to know their IP on the web, go to an online internet
whois site. Its not hard at all, why would you want to know anyway?

In real life on the web. maybe if you use it in the game with IP_lookup you'll get a secret site. What's an online internet
whois site?

4ABH Helps?
Asleep in your arms I'm drifting
I'm falling in sorrow
Dead to the world you left me
In footsteps I follow

A quick scan reveals that the IP for "www.introversion.co.uk" is:
69.10.132.131
Some people talk because they have something to say. Others talk because they have to say something.

I doubt if that will get you any luck, all the IPs in Uplink are as fake as they get :p

ABOUT IP AND CONVERTION FROM RAW IP TO DOMAIN NAME

Postby kevin_chn » Sat Aug 06, 2005 7:16 pm

as uplink, the real internet mainly use Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) which use 32-bit long IP address.

There are 3 classes of IPs,( i will not explain them in detail)

which are ranged from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255.

so the IPs in the game of uplink are all invalid in reality.

the formal representation of IP is 32-bit long binary numbers such as 000101011.....

the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is called DOTTED DECIMAL NOTATION which is used widely because it is easier to remember decimals than binaries for human beings.

and because of this, any xxx number in xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx larger than 255 is nonsense.(255=11111111 in binary)

And, How to convert raw an raw IP to domain name or vice versa? the answer is too easy. if you use windows as your OS, you can simply run nslookup program from START MENU->RUN->CMD, then TYPE "nslookup", and then you can type EITHER IP or domain name, the DNS server deployed all over the world will serve you(although a local dns server might be enough to do so).
IF you are running UNIX/LINUX, i suppose that there is an equavalent nslookup program contained, if not, you can run your Internet Browser and search "nslookup" in search engines, there are many...
the domain names have nothing to do with secrets, they are invented merely because you mortal can hardly remember raw IP addresses.

And you're ignoring the fact that the highest host address you can possibly have it 223.255.255.254, and the lowest possible is 1.0.0.1, and anything between 127.0.0.0 and 127.255.255.255 is invalid.

And there are 5 classes
Class A, 0.0.0.0 - 127.255.255.255
Class B, 128.0.0.0 - 191.255.255.255
Class C, 192.0.0.0 - 223.255.255.255
Class D, 224.0.0.0 - 239.255.255.255
Class E, 240.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255

Class E is reserved for "experimental use only"
and CLass D is only usable for multicast messages, routing protocol updates are a prime example of this kind of message.

A lot more unusable addresses are specified in RFC 3330, which summarises trhe RFC1918 Private Addresses and the other various address spaces.
