It's called a mod, as in modification. It changes things, such as add more gateways, lans or change graphics.

I know what a mod is, what I want to know is where can I get it? and by it, I mean that colorized map thingie...

They are mods. Introversion does not host mods.
Try Section51, Modlink, Awol for example, or Gateway Failure.
