Agent, you must still be using the old version of Uplink. You ought to try upgrading to 1.31, it's got new features and tools. Also, I'd like to point out that most of the Uplink warez on the file-sharing networks are still version 1.0, which is one reason why many people come here talking about the TooManySecrets cheat.
Can you do what I do? Can you hunt deer and cyber-criminals at the same time? Ete mor dere!

OKay I still haven't had a chance to test this but I'm pretty sure from what I've read, the reason I was getting caught it because I didn't think the passive trace started until after I disconnected.... i was taking my sweet time to send the money back to my uplink account and usually by the time I connected to InterNIC I was already caught....
But I've been logging into admin (using voice analyzer, pw cracker, decypher...) to delete the logs of the acct activity....
Is that necessary? Is it enough just to delete the statements? Am I working way too hard and wasting precious time simultaneously?
That's what I always did on the "esteemed colleague" missions, and I'm starting to wonder if I really even need to do it on those....???
Sorry for N00bnezz

My first modem was 2400 baud.
that's okay, it happens to the best of us. hacking into the GCD or the social security is quite easy, but when hacking banks, although it's just as easy, you have to pay a little more attention to speed. you see the passive trace from banks are a lot faster, that's why several guys here in the forums came up with such ingenious ways to buy more time, or find alternate ways to get the money they need, aside from hacking banks, but that's another story altogether.

Just a couple of observations, which no doubt have been mentioned before somewhere:
If you're in somone's account about to transfer all their cash into your account, then go into their 'loan' menu, and bump it up to maximum. You can usually get another 1000 or so, and you don't need to do any extra work to cover it up.
If you've got a 'financial data on one of our associates' mission, and they want to know the size of the person's loan, reply immediately with 0c. More than half the time that'll be the correct answer.
And the whole "Hacking banks isn't playing the game" argument is nonsense. The function of any computer game is to give the user an enjoyable experience. If one player enjoys it most with bank hacking, that's kinda his perogative. Hell, if using the CD as a coaster or frisbee or something gives him unparalleled joy, then good for him. End of discussion.

I'm sorry I still didn't get a clear answer to my question.... when hacking banks, is it necessary to login as the sysop and delete the logs (ie go through the voice verify, password, and elliptic curve crap just to destroy system records of the transfers? NOT JUST THE STATEMENTS????)
Thanks
Thanks

nevermind... hehe... i got a "esteemed colleague" mission where I was making a transfer from the account of a hacker, one whom I just recently framed, actually
Anyways the dude has over 1M creds and I had to transfer half to the company and I took the other half for myself using simply: 1. bypass monitor + proxy 2. crack pw 3. transfer 4. kill statementdisconnectlogintobankdeletemystatementdeletelogsatinternic.... whew. That last 45 seconds was insane but I made it away clean with over 500000 credits and a new rating of Elite.

@Invisible247: The problem is not that you're too slow, but maybe you deleted ALL the files on the internic or the uplink test engine. You have too leave the login log, because leaving only a logoff-log is a bit suspicious isn't it?
@ErrOrBoY4o4: I don't really think that the banks get faster. I use about 20 bounce points so I have enough time; I haven't noticed that the banks are getting faster with every attack.
But there's a way not even to get traced by the bank. You simply have to bypass monitor and proxy before you start to break the password. Then you have half of eternity time to complete the task you're up to.

Jesus, hacking the banks for personal gain isn't hard. It's even easy after you've done it. Here's a couple of tips that will get you through:
1) Create an account at each bank, and one at the stock market. These greatly slow traces.
2) Use an account you've made when transfering the money. You don't have to disconnect, meaning you can leave your Bypassers on.
3) Delete the statement at the top, at both accounts. If you have an account at that bank, you can quickly delete the first statement, click Done, and click on Manage Account to go to your account.
4) Delete the logs "connection from x.x.x.x routed to x.x.x.x" & "password accepted". Do NOT delete the log regarding "connection from x.x.x.x established", as this will look suspicious.
Using this, you can't go wrong. This saves you time, and that can mean a lot to newbies.
