Uplink and it's Community

Postby TWK » Mon Dec 02, 2013 11:00 pm

Good afternoon,

I had all but forgotten about uplink until recently. Introversion have of course released Prison Architect as a playable Alpha which reminded me of the wonderful simulation that is Uplink.

Out of curiosity, I have been visiting the uplink forums looking for tips and reading about others opinions of the game. Unfortunately, I was almost immediately struck by the fact that this community seems to contain some of the most unsociable children on the internet.

Regardless of the fact the forums seem to be quiet, it is dominated by threads containing individuals who have been asking for help, only for veteran members of the community to be rude and nasty.

Even if the poster of the thread has asked a seemingly obvious or silly question, being nasty and quite frankly abusive is not the correct way to help members of a community. I do not care how stupid you think the question was or how 'Intelligent' you think you are, perhaps you should stop and think before you decide to abuse an op and grow up just a tiny bit.

Otherwise, it's a shame uplink is all but dead, it's still a great game today. One day perhaps someone will improve on the genre.

Holy shit, deja vu.

I remember this exact thread and me making an unfunny post intentionally doing everything you said you didn't like. But I can't find it... Gah!

More to the point... Got some examples? I don't recall anyone being too mean recently. xander's posts sound a bit cold sometimes but they're meant to be cold, hard info most of the time.

That, and xander never ever posts to the Uplink board. That would be crazy!

Heh, apologies... I must have been thinking of the Darwinia forum!
