"We have not heard word yet"

Hi all,
I had one of the "Delete all data on a server" missions. I asked for all the money upfront so I could buy something I needed first. I then logged into the target computer, opened a command shell, and did cd usr / delete which all went fine. I waited until the news server showed that the company had suffered a major data loss, and then replied to the mission. Unfortunately I keep getting the reply "We have not heard word yet that the damage has been done".

I tried logging back in and doing the same thing, but the system is already wiped. What have I done wrong?

Well it seems stupid but the obvious choice is are you sure you got the right company? otherwise if everything is correct and it still fails, could always just fail the job. You will take a reputation hit but nothing too major.

Heh, yeah it was definitely the right server. I'm just wondering if it's a bug. Should I post the save files for someone to test?

Not sure why I asked I don't know what I can do with the info. I suppose you could if it would make you feel better. Otherwise I would suggest just dumping the mission anyway.

I guess I could dump the mission, but then I worry that the same thing would happen on a future mission. So I'm guessing this isn't a known bug?

I think its one that happens so rarely no one really bothers with it. But since you are up to full data trashing missions anyway, its safe to say you can easily get the renown you will lose back.
