This does have something to do with Uplink.

I recently dusted off my copy of Uplink, am allpatched up to 1.55, and even have a separate install of 1.60 in hopes that Onlink had come along far enough. I R Disapoint?

Anyway. What's happening lately? I know that is there are any Uplink clones out there, the communities around those games have probably wandered off by now. We do not have a sequel (Do NOT shoot me...it figures into my thoughts) or other upgrades/addons/patches from IV.

I have been reading up on C++ programming, trying to teach myself (my discipline really doesn't afford me the chances to just sit and teach myself...but I can program a damn good game in BASIC) and believe Uplink to be a good 'something' to help me learn. I did end up buying the DevCD and WILL plan to actually use it some day.

What I am looking for are any still actively updated mods, user fixes/patches, unofficial updates to help the game play better/longer. I seem to remember a mod that started making the Gateway a more integral and interesting part of the game, like changing Memory to RAM and adding in hard drives. New softwares, etc. It was pretty impressive and I may... be... I think I may be thinking about one of those 'clones' that some are working on.

So. Anyway. Not only questions but just sticking the rod in and stirring a bit to see what happens.

Hi James1982 :)
I don't know if there is any mods that is actively being worked on...
But some of us Uplink fans are developing our own games. Like I'm working on HackTech Online, and another developer are working on Pure2012. If you have some wishes and ideas to contribute with, feel free to pm me.

hey, don't forget about me ;)

codelink v2 is as close to an uplink clone MMO (on crack) as you are gonna get.
here is a short PVP video of 2 players attacking me at the same time.

lots of videos on our channel.

i won't even try to list the features, but this game has practically everything you could want in a hacker game. everything is live, real time, and online. We have over 400 active agents and at least 3 or 4 players in game at all times. our traffic is growing fast and at the end of this month, we will have over 300 in-game servers spread across a few dozen networks.
