why uplink?

Postby DarkZero » Tue Oct 07, 2008 7:53 pm

why did they name it uplink?, it is a cool name but still. according to wikipedia it is ''An uplink (UL or U/L) is the portion of a communications link used for the transmission of signals from an Earth terminal to a satellite or to an airborne platform. '' so why uplink?
I wasn't here, I didn't post this, If you don't believe me check your logs.

Because they named it after the company that is, more or less, what provides the provisions of the protagonist, as in, due to the fact that it's a video game, the player/consumer.

And it's succinct and punchy.

More likely the meaning of the word uplink should be interpreted as used in computer network terms. Here the uplink is a connection to the rest of a LAN/Internet.
