Code: Select all
time-laptop:/home/toby/Documents/uplink # ls
data.dat graphics.dat music.dat sounds.dat world.dat
fonts.dat loading.dat readme.txt uplink
time-laptop:/home/toby/Documents/uplink # ./uplink
bash: ./uplink: Permission denied
time-laptop:/home/toby/Documents/uplink # sh uplink
uplink: uplink: cannot execute binary file

Two things:
First, you're using an outdated version of uplink - you might want to install the 1.54 patch before playing, as it fixes a LOT of bugs/annoyances. (and if you start playing with your current version, which looks to be 1.32 or earlier, you might need to start over when you do update)
Second, if you really want to run that old version of uplink run the following command:
in the uplink folder.
After that, uplink should work.
--Arek

Also, try 1.55, error hanclding is better and gives more info on the console.
