Uplink from a USB drive?

Postby Jaeger_CDN » Fri Dec 01, 2006 11:30 pm

I'm wondering if it's possible to install/play uplink from a USB thumbdrive?

My office just converted our desktops to XP and they blocked our ability to install anything that requires a registry change.

edit: I have the original CD version not the STEAM release and they definately wouldn't let me install STEAM

if you have the room of course you can.. Hell I am right now
that makes it portable and convinent for people that go hooked hard... like me.

either way

all that is reqired is that the system you are plugging into be able to support the game and has windows 2000 or better ( I find that with win98 and down most usb drivers are not in the OS's driver database)

Just what I wanted to hear :D

I assume you just install it like normal but to the USB drive. There's no registry issues though?

I advise against doing suck a thing... Its called misuse of a computer system.. You could get fired... And if you are a govt contracter or employee, worse things could happen.

If we were not supposed to play games on our office computers,
Why did Introversion make Defcon have "Office Mode"?

Loads of old games used to have secret "panic buttons", but big developers like EA don't bother with cheats that they can't sell in guide books these days.

I can't remember the game, but there was one I used to play that had a full fake spreadsheet app that could be called up using F10, and it was actualy a front end for the game - you could play by reading the numbers correctly... damn, I wish I could remember which game that was, it's kinda hard to explain...
If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

if you ever think of it, or even better find it again I would love to get my hands on it...

I miss alot of the old games....

There was one long ago, back in the Pre Dos_Shell days
it was essentually 3d tetris... I want to say it was called block-out
but I dont think that's right.

I need to ask my uncle again... I'd love to find that one again too...

Wrt Block-out, that is its name, as evidenced here.

(Admittedly, the guy'll probably never check back here... but whatever)
