And is this how people really hack. (Disincluding the interface.)

Uplink is about as real hacking as 100zzzz boobs.

If you want to know what real hacking is like, goto a large bookstore and buy a book called Secrets of A Superhacker. If your local bookstores don't have it, see if a local library does and check it out, or try to find it online.
