Nintendo is a company.
Nintendo Revolution is a product by Nintendo.
Nintendo Revolution is not a Nintendo.
Not even this:

is a Nintendo. That's a Nintendo Entertainment System, AKA NES.

While going through some of the old topics I noticed that Steeds mispelt the word Best, a slight misplacement of the hand produced the letters Wor to be typed instead of Be. Probably getting used to a Dvorak variant keyboard?

I think forumers, for the most part, are being really lame about the name. Frankly, I really don't care what a system is called, as long as it kicks ass when it's released.

As far as Wii goes, I don't think it's a bad name. When you read Nintendo's reason behind it (like having a name that's pronounced the same in all languages) then it's sort of clever in a way. It wouldn't be my first choice (then again, neither would Revolution) but I don't think it's bad, per se.

What kills me are the people (and I've actually run into a few people like this) that have the "WHAT A HORRIBLE NAME I'M TOTALLY NOT BUYING THAT SYSTEM NOW" attitude.

Hah, brilliantly executed. But do you seriously think its the best ever?
I hated the name when I first herd it but now I think it's great. All other consoles have really boring generic names. PlayStation 3. MS couldn't release a xbox 2 as that would be inferior to the #3 of Sony, so they gave theirs a 3 too, but called it 360 so it didn't look like they were trying to play catch-up. And Revolution is just another bland name like 360.
Wii has so many great meanings, and will be remembered for years longer than Sega masterybob, and Microsoft thingamebox. It sounds like you're having fun just saying it... Wheeeeeeeee!

I can't think of any other console name that I though sounded cool, interesting, or even really discussed.

Heh, I made the same argument on another forum.

I can't really say that I hated the name when I first read it, but it was definitely a wtf moment for me. I sort of like it in a way, it is fun to say, and easy to poke fun of. ;)

If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?
