Should Make Uplink An Online Game

Postby _Sorcerer_ » Thu Mar 09, 2006 3:35 pm

I think it would be tight if you would make uplink an online game so u could hack other players and shit like that. Havent found a hacking game as nice as uplink and i think it would make it 100 times nicer if it were an online game. I already sit here for about 8-9 hours a day playing uplink, i can only imagine how long i would sit here playing it if it were an online game heh.

jeez. this is one topic that comes up constantly. read my lips (words)
IT....WILL...NOT...HAPPEN! IT...IS...IMPOSSIBLE!
now forget this idea and get on with life. an online uplink is simply impossible, will not happen, unless some idiot decides to waste twenty years of his life on it! and it wouldnt even work that well! use your head!
I no longer exist.

There are people out there trying to make an online Uplink, or something similar, even as we speak.

The latest is something called Project Weblink by Vooshy. It's in early development right now, but it could become the Uplink online you've been looking for.

Or it will fail like so many before...

Thanks Mr. Roboto, we have no plans for this to fail, even due to a staggering lack of interest we will continue, just to prove to all the people that have failed that we have the stamina to complete. oh and ProstheticS is the man to bow down to, im just doing graphics and web administration. :P

I think Flashlink is still alive too. I recently sent cyberluk a storyline.

@_Sorcerer_: Would it be too much to ask to at least post in the RIGHT FORUM!?

@Mr. Roboto Isnt Weblink just Multiplayer?

Yeah there is also JLink
There you also get the most recent SRC of JLink. Ok JLink is also just MP. hmm... is Weblink OpenSource? JLink is.

I think Flashlink may be dead. The original website is certainly dead.

Here is the original thread about it. :)

What about Onlink? isn't that something a team including Iris is working on?
The truth is that despite the fact that there is no future for Uplink from Introversion's point of view, there has always been strong community interest (and many failed projects...)
Perhaps the now-somewhat-redundant The Future section could be used to keep people up to date with the independent projects.

a) aehm... i thought Onlink was "just" the biggest MOD for Uplink ever created? It hasnt Multiplayer support and there also no plans for MP(until yet)

b) yeah an good idea, so there would be the News about the Uplink Clones, Mods, etc. closer together so you havent to visit all the project sites seperatly

Onlink still hasn't been created, so it's not yet the biggest ever mod for Uplink.

Also, they steal people's work without asking them.

Would be nice to have a small page on our independent projects, but obviously introversion clearly very busy with defcon. Also the future part of the forum is pretty much choc full of our projects anyhow.

Hello,

Is it still possible to buy the game online?
Is it working under Windows XP?

I know these are off-topic questions, but I need the info a.s.a.p.

Thx :(

Yes it is still possible to buy online, go to the introversion main page and search for the introversion shop, shouldnt be too hard to find.
