Microsoft Program on BBC2 thing

Postby Babylon5 » Fri Nov 04, 2005 8:28 pm

Is anyone watching/just watched the XBox 360 thing on BBC2?

It's about the 360 and its hard path to world domination.

Can't say I have, and have no wish to, I'm a PC zealot at heart.

(Oh, and yay for you having changed your signature, three people with exactly the same image in it were starting to run together if they posted in the same thread)

I keep going back and forth in my mind between the 360 and Revolution. Can't decide, but I'm gonna go with the 360, because it comes out before Christmas, and has games that I'm interested in (Kameo, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Burnout, Mass Effect).

I'm not a console gamer, but if it was going to be any, it'd be the Revolution

If the Revolution can be used to play the original NES games I might get it just for that. However, I don't really play games much anymore and haven't had a console since the SNES. PC games tend to have the complexity I like. Last month I was at a talk Bill Gates gave and he demo-ed the 360. It looks pretty nice. Good graphics, basically a windows machine without the viruses (as of now, but then again it isn't out yet). :)

I prefer the plug in and play accesibilty of consoles for games, especially nintendo's.

I preffered the old days when games were for everyone, where the only thing you had to tell your friend to do was 'shoot the ducks', which is why im really excited about Revolution, as it opens up a lot of interesting possibilities. I know there are plenty of PC people who will come and say "OMFG CONSOLE GAMES ARE RUBBISH NINTENDO IS FOR KIDS!!1!!" and while i agree that there tends to be more 'depth' to games conventionally released for pc than consoles, i think this is more of a market choice than any kind of development weakness in consoles.

As such, the only next gen console that interests me is the Revolution, as it seems to be taking the right measure to provide an experience completely unique from that of PC gaming, rather than just following the convergence trend of its rivals.

Not saying i dont like PCs, just that theres no point in buying a console that exactly like your pc but with worse controls!

I've kinda stopped playing my Gamecube now, but I really like the Revolution controller...

Not enough buttons :P

Not exactly conventional, is it?

But still, I tend to be pleasantly surprised by Nintendo, so, I'm gonna be defending them.

The only console I'll ever touch is the Atari 2600. (Yes, I'm that oldschool!8) ). I have good memories of the games I've played on it.

Untill they make Uplink for consoles, I'll stand by my ole 700MHz Athlon anyday. At least, untill I can upgrade to Opteron.

I'm gonna get the revolution.

If it's true that you can wield the controller as a fishing rod etc...

Then I'm waiting for the first starwars game to come out. Lightsabers.

Need I say more?

Xbox360 for me.

Call me a microsoft whore whatever etc any other insults you can think of. But personally I think xbox360 is gonna kick ass. And plus xbox live makes it even better, one big unified online system for gaming.

None of this sony every man for himself approach.

I bring you to a comic illustrating my point. http://www.cad-comic.com/images/comics/ENG_20051104.jpg

Y'know, Nintendo is doing a unified online system as well. Only it's FREE.

Some people talk because they have something to say. Others talk because they have to say something.

Xbox360 comes out this year, before the holidays. I haven't bought a console in many years, and I don't want to stick around waiting for the Revolution. Yes, I know, crappy reason, but I don't care.

Due to popular request (i.e. Icepick told me to) I took that link out.

Back on topic, add Lost Odyssey to my list of prospective 360 games I would buy. http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/731/731773.html
